The effective teacher is one who “gets his students to complete the period of instruction with the knowledge and skills that are deemed appropriate for them” (Berliner, 1987). The role of the teacher is as a determinant of educational quality a student receives is indisputable. This consideration highlights the need for every educational system be attentive to the training needs and constant updating of its teachers. In the Iruaritz Lezama Foundation we have always considered ourselves not only to be active thinkers but also doers who go further and who put into practice everything we test in our innovation labs. And how do we do it? The answer leads us to prioritize teacher training at the top of the pyramid. The last week of the academic year has been focused on a ten-day training program consisting of training modules such as: multiple intelligences, agile pedagogies, teachers’ think tank with the objective of sharing and validating the practices of our teaches, digital tools and development skills to use and learn with in the classroom.
Our magnificent team of teachers are on a well-deserved summer break until September, when the new course starts along with other training bets that help us give the best to the educational community of the EBI centers.
